Sleep at Night

Establish 1-5 arguments that justify your actions, ex:

• Victims are subhuman
• Boss knows best
• Anything is better than anarchy
• The enemy forced our hand
• It's for their own good
• Building a better world
• Preventing greater horrors
• Genuinely just a psychopath, don't even need to engage with this mechanic

Instead of taking a Feeling, you may mark off one of your Reasons - it's feeling shaky right now. This can be cured like a Feeling.

There's no mechanic for when they run out, just use it narratively.

Leash Dynamics

When you advance the assigned mission, you may ask your superior for a Conditional Asset. It comes with a rule that limits your actions, and confiscates the Asset if broken. Ex:

• A pod of healthy young adults of each sex; Keep experiments of any kind secret from other characters.
• Access to the orbital drones; Kill marked enemies of state on sight.
• A swimming-pool of battery acid; Deliver activity reports on all allies.
• A fleet of horses; Stay out of the exclusion zone.

Get Him for Me, Big Brother

You may call on your government connections to attempt an indirect Sabotage. If you get a 7+, you are applauded and receive a Conditional Asset. The state chooses the bonus or cost.

Bite the Hand

If your superior learns you acted against the state, you receive a sanction that limits your actions permanently. Breaking one of these rules will make you an enemy of the state. Ex:

• Report to superior at end of every day
• Wear a wire
• Stay within a radius of your superior (reverse restraining order)
• Wear a muzzle
• Cut contact with bad influences
• Wear a bomb collar

As the punishment for a failed Move, you might decide a secret act of rebellion gets found out.

Option: Get Mechsploited

Your superior is your direct and intimate handler. Your handler can make you Go Mad at any time.

How did she condition you? How does she trigger you?

When you Analyze / Research something, it becomes knowledge of the state.

Steamroll

When you Dominate the Room with threats of organized violence, you automatically get a 10+.

How does it spill out of your control? Who gets hurt?
